Tripadvisdor Review – April 2019

Fabulous short break

This is our third stay at la Pergola and was a lovely short break before the Easter rush. We upgraded to half board before we travelled and feel we got value for money. The hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly…

Tripadvisdor Review – April 2019

Wonderful

We stayed here whilst walking the GR221 for a little bit of luxury and that is exactly what we got. Watching the sunset made it extra special.

Booking Review – May 2019

Fantastic apartment and area

Plenty of space in our apartment, very clean with everything we needed, plenty of windows around the apartment letting in a lot of natural light.

Mallorca Weather in Autumn and What to Pack

Mallorca Weather in Autumn and What to Pack

There's a suitcase that only makes sense in autumn. Swimwear sits next to a light jumper. Sandals share space with walking shoes. And the sun cream travels alongside a windproof jacket. It's the suitcase of a season that hasn't quite decided to let go of summer, which is exactly why it's the best time to discover south-west Mallorca at an unhurried pace.

An Autumn Lived in Layers

Mallorca's autumn is bright and mild, and it changes gradually. In September, daytime highs still approach 28 °C. In October they settle at around 24 °C, and in November they drop to about 19 °C, according to AEMET's climate averages. Nights cool down before the days do, and the sun shows up on almost every one of them.

The trick to enjoying it is to pack the way people live an autumn day here: moment by moment.

Morning: Coves, Salt and Gentle Sunshine

The day begins in the water. After a whole summer storing up heat, the Mediterranean stays inviting well into autumn, as we explain in our post on the sea's second summer. Camp de Mar and Sant Elm return to their calm rhythm. There's room to lay out your towel without an early start.

For these mornings you need very little: swimwear, a beach towel, sunglasses and sun cream. The heat eases off, but the midday sun is still strong. Add a linen shirt or a light dress for the walk back, and you're all set.

Midday: Trails and Viewpoints

Autumn is the season of the Serra de Tramuntana. The air is clear, the light is softer and walking is no longer an endurance test. If one of the best walks in the Serra de Tramuntana tempts you, pack sturdy closed shoes with good grip and a small rucksack.

Higher up, the wind blows harder and the temperature drops a few degrees. A packable windproof jacket is your best ally. It comes in handy at a viewpoint and on a crossing to Sa Dragonera, just when migrating birds fill its skies.

Evening: The Harbour in a Jumper

As the sun starts to set, Port d'Andratx changes colour. The façades turn golden, the boats come in and the terraces along the promenade fill with unhurried conversation. It's time for long trousers and a light jumper, which go from your suitcase to your shoulders as soon as the sea breeze arrives.

In October, a light layer is enough. In November, a mid-season jacket lets you linger over dinner outdoors. That's the beauty of autumn here: eating out is still the perfect plan.

Grey Days Count Too

Autumn brings the odd rainy day, usually short and concentrated into a few hours. Far from spoiling your trip, it opens the door to other plans. You can spend a morning among the exhibitions at CCA Andratx, browse our ideas for things to do in Mallorca when it rains or simply swap the cove for our spa. If you have a walk in mind, check the AEMET weather warnings before setting off.

On these days, a hooded rain jacket does more than an umbrella.

What You Can Leave at Home

Winter coats, heavy boots and thick scarves can stay in the wardrobe, at least until the end of November. Autumn in Mallorca calls for light luggage. And that spare space in your suitcase may well come home filled with almonds, olive oil or a piece of local craftwork from the market.

Your Base for Autumn in the South-West

With the harbour 700 metres away and the coves of the south-west close by, every day can start by the sea and end on a terrace. Our rooms await you after each outing. Through our services, the team will help you choose the cove, trail or corner that best suits each morning's sky. If you're already thinking about your getaway, get in touch with us.
