Great and relaxing stay

Smart Aparthotel with great facilities and location. Extremely helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Food pretty good, fruit selection fantastic. Would not hesitate to recommend and hope to return.

Tripadvisdor Review – April 2019

Fabulous short break

This is our third stay at la Pergola and was a lovely short break before the Easter rush. We upgraded to half board before we travelled and feel we got value for money. The hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly…

Tripadvisdor Review – April 2019

Wonderful

We stayed here whilst walking the GR221 for a little bit of luxury and that is exactly what we got. Watching the sunset made it extra special.

Booking Review – May 2019

Fantastic apartment and area

Plenty of space in our apartment, very clean with everything we needed, plenty of windows around the apartment letting in a lot of natural light.

Water sports in Port d'Andratx: open sea, kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing

Water sports in Port d'Andratx: open sea, kayaking, paddleboarding and sailing

There's an early hour when the bay of Port d'Andratx looks like glass. The water hasn't quite woken up, the first boats slip out in silence and the light glides across the surface without barely creasing it. It's the perfect moment to understand why this corner of south-west Mallorca is one of the most rewarding places on the island to take to the water.

The port — one of the most beautiful natural harbours in the Mediterranean — offers something unusual: sheltered, clean water just a stone's throw from the open sea. That combination makes it an ideal starting point both for first-time paddlers and for anyone after a full morning under sail. In summer the pattern repeats almost daily: calm, flat mornings and a gentle breeze that picks up in the afternoon and brings the sails to life.

Kayaking: the coast at paddling pace

Kayaking is perhaps the most honest way to get to know this stretch of coastline. From the water, the shore reads differently: walls of rock, pines leaning over the cliffs and tiny inlets that no path can reach. Paddling south-west, you can reach some of the hidden coves near Port d'Andratx that would otherwise stay off the map. No experience or licence required — just the urge to stop, drop anchor for a moment and swim where there's no one else around.

Paddleboarding: balance and quiet

If kayaking invites you to move, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) invites you to look. Standing on the board, the paddle cutting cleanly into the water, you glide slowly along the shore. Low-wind mornings are the best: the sea turns mirror-flat and lets you drift across to the Sant Elm area, facing Sa Dragonera, with the feeling of walking on water. It's a gentle activity, perfect for easing into the day or for a first try with the family.

Sailing: Andratx's seafaring tradition

Sailing is part of this port's identity. The Club de Vela Puerto de Andratx, founded in 1968, keeps that maritime culture alive with its sailing school and beginner-to-advanced courses for all ages. Learning to read the wind, rig a small dinghy and take it out into the bay is the kind of thing that stays with you — and here you do it in one of the loveliest settings in the Mediterranean. You'll find more local water-based activities on the official illesbalears.travel portal.

Open sea: head out and come back with the sunset

Beyond the harbour mouth, the open sea holds its own reward: a boat trip, a swim far from the shore or simply letting the hours pass while you watch the coast from the water. Always paddle and sail with respect for the seabed — the Posidonia meadows that keep these waters so clear are fragile — and save the end of the day for the viewpoints and sunsets of Cap de sa Mola, which turn this whole corner of the island copper.

And for those who'd rather look down than out to the horizon, the world beneath the surface is a plan in itself: we cover it in our article on diving experiences in Mallorca.

Whatever you do on the water, the best part comes afterwards: coming back with salt on your skin, an unhurried shower and the rest of the afternoon ahead. At La Pérgola, minutes from the port, the sea is always close by — and so is the rest.
