Great and relaxing stay

Smart Aparthotel with great facilities and location. Extremely helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. Food pretty good, fruit selection fantastic. Would not hesitate to recommend and hope to return.

Tripadvisdor Review – April 2019

Fabulous short break

This is our third stay at la Pergola and was a lovely short break before the Easter rush. We upgraded to half board before we travelled and feel we got value for money. The hotel is very clean and the staff very friendly…

Tripadvisdor Review – April 2019

Wonderful

We stayed here whilst walking the GR221 for a little bit of luxury and that is exactly what we got. Watching the sunset made it extra special.

Booking Review – May 2019

Fantastic apartment and area

Plenty of space in our apartment, very clean with everything we needed, plenty of windows around the apartment letting in a lot of natural light.

Expedia Review – Jan 2019

Great Place

Excellent place to stay. Staff was amazing friendly. I will definitely come back. Thanks for everything.

Family Holidays in Port d'Andratx: Calm Plans for the Little Ones

Family Holidays in Port d'Andratx: Calm Plans for the Little Ones

There's a moment in summer when Mallorca changes pace. It happens in those final days of August and the first days of September, when the sun still shines and the sea is still warm, but the streets of Port d'Andratx recover some quiet and the beaches leave room to breathe. For families with young children, this is probably the best window of the year: there are still whole weeks of good weather ahead, but without the rush and crowds of July and August. And in the Balearics there's an extra reason to make the most of it: the school year doesn't start until 10 September, so there's still plenty of time for a few restful days without watching the calendar anxiously.

An end of summer with a different light

By late August, the midday sun loses some of its intensity and the afternoons stretch out with softer light, much kinder to the youngest members of the family. It's the ideal moment to adapt the day to their own rhythm, rather than the other way round: quiet mornings at the aparthotel, an unhurried nap and beach afternoons once the heat has eased. No packed itineraries or endless lists of plans: at this time of year, the best thing you can offer your family is time without planning every minute, letting your child decide when to stop.

Beaches with more space and still-warm water

A short drive from the aparthotel, Camp de Mar is one of the most rewarding beaches for travelling with young children: the entry into the water is gradual and over sand, and there's a playground shaded by pine trees right by the shore. Its islet, la Illeta, is reached by a narrow wooden footbridge that tends to fascinate little ones, and in September you can cross it without the summer queues.

A further ten minutes away, Sant Elm offers an even more unhurried atmosphere: its sheltered bay, where the water deepens very gradually, flies a Blue Flag and has a seafront promenade perfect for pushing a buggy along while taking in the silhouette of Sa Dragonera in the distance. If you're after more options for travelling with children, our blog has a full round-up of the best beaches in Mallorca for children.

The seafront promenade, at a different pace

As the afternoon draws in, the Paseo Marítimo in Port d'Andratx invites an unhurried stroll among the terraces and the boats moored in the harbour. An ice cream, a stop by the water to watch a boat set sail, a few minutes watching the fish from the quayside... these are small plans, but they're exactly the ones that work best with children who still tire quickly. If you'd like to stretch the afternoon out until sunset, we cover the best spots to watch it in this article on sunsets in Port d'Andratx.

The countdown to September, unhurried

These late-summer days are also the moment to enjoy the aparthotel itself without rushing out every morning. The pools and garden make a good counterpoint to afternoons at the beach, especially during the central hours of the day, when it's best to keep the youngest out of the sun. You can browse our rooms, designed with families in mind, and discover the rest of our amenities in our services.
