Plans for Outdoor Sports Without Feeling Cold
In Mallorca, it doesn't usually get too cold even in the coldest winters, but going out to train in early summer, in April or September, is not the same as doing it in November, December, and the beginning of the year.
The island boasts more than 300 sunny days a year, and even if the temperature isn't always above 20°C, enjoying a day of outdoor sports without feeling cold is a plan that many love.
Mallorca can boast of having:
- -Over 600 tennis courts
- -Nearly a hundred kilometers of mountains, specifically in the Tramuntana mountain range, to explore through hiking, running, and even cycling.
- -Over 500 kilometers of cycling routes, specifically marked.
- -Around 50 sports marinas
- -More than 20 golf courses
- -About 400 kilometers of walking routes of various difficulty levels and path lengths
Walking Creates the Path
From the dry-stone route, natural parks like Albufera or Dragonera, the possibilities offered by the Tramuntana mountain range and all the nearby villages, reserves like Galatzó, public estates... Mallorca has paths for hiking suitable for all types of families.
Winter is a very suitable time to discover the island by walking and exploring less-known areas.
Additionally, for Nordic walking enthusiasts, there are hundreds of clubs and events dedicated to this sport, including marathons, duathlons, and other sports competitions.
Popular Cycling Routes
There are not only over 500 kilometers of cycling routes but also more than 2000 varied paths to pedal and enjoy the journey. For locals, these paths are familiar, and visitors benefit from advantages that don't exist in other destinations: hotels specialized for these athletes, professional shops and workshops, bicycle, and equipment rental points, and even spa areas with massages specifically for cyclists.
Golf Courses for All Levels
Mallorca boasts 23 golf courses, 19 of which are open to the public. Two are exclusive to members, and the remaining two are private. The possibility of playing sports on the island without feeling cold has made golf one of the preferred activities, both for locals and visitors.
Winter is the high season for golf in Mallorca, attracting players from all over Europe, especially Austrians, Swiss, Germans, Britons, and Scandinavians.
Clay Courts for Champions
The options for playing tennis are abundant and varied throughout the year. In winter, centers like the popular Rafa Nadal Tennis Academy or the Palma Sport & Tennis Club remain open.
The first, located in Manacor, offers courses to be taken during the winter months. These are intended for both young people and adults, following a training program like that of a tennis player.
The second is situated in the center of Palma and features modern sports facilities, including a gym, yoga rooms, and up to seven tennis courts.
