Family vacations in mallorca: the best plans
The Mediterranean's premier tourist destination is chosen every year by thousands of families eager to enjoy everything that Mallorca has to offer. Beach excursions, visits to nature reserves, strolls through the different historical centers of each town... These are some of the most popular activities. However, it is possible to break away from the usual routine and plan a family vacation with the best plans. Here are some highlights.
A Day Trip to Cabrera
Cabrera is one of the few pristine havens left in the Mediterranean. Spending a day on this islet, enjoying its crystal-clear waters, nearly untouched seabeds, cliffs, and coves is a fantastic plan for family enjoyment.
The boat to Cabrera departs from Colonia de Sant Jordi and offers different possibilities, such as taking the cultural route of the island, snorkeling, witnessing the sunset in the legendary Blue Cave, or spending the day exploring the island, both on land and at sea.
Exploring Mallorca's Underground
Did you know that Mallorca has underground caves? There are up to five of them, and all offer impressive and refreshingly cool visits, as the temperature inside the earth typically hovers around 18ºC.
The Artá Caves boasts the so-called "Queen of Pillars," an enormous 22-meter-high stalagmite that is truly exceptional in the world of speleology. On the other hand, the Drach Caves feature Lake Martel, the largest known underground lake in Europe, where a marvelous musical spectacle takes place.
The Hams Caves (meaning "hooks" in Spanish), visitors can enjoy a whole show of lights and music, with projections on the stone screen at one of its entrances.
The last is Campanet cave, where tranquility and silence reign, and where the marvelous views of the landscape are a bonus.
Full Throttle on Four Wheels
Another place that provides fun for the whole family, adrenaline rush included, is the Karting track. In Magaluf, there is one that offers mini karts for children from three years old, karts for teenagers, and racing karts for adults.
Additionally, for children over eight years old, there is a driving school where kids can learn to drive under the watchful eye of teachers who are professionals in handling these vehicles.
And at Night...
Mallorcan summers are full of popular festivals, which reach their climax at sunset and during the night. Dramatized conflicts between Moors and Christians begin in May and extend until the end of September in many coastal towns. But there are also melon festivals in Villafranca, bachelor parties in Moscari, Jewel Races in Alaró's town, and numerous dinners and festivities that take place in the main squares of the villages.
Mallorca is an island that surprises with the variety of its tourist and leisure offerings, especially when visiting with family and having several days to explore its best proposals.
