Where to Watch the Three Kings' Parades in Mallorca
It is one of the most anticipated events for both children and adults, preceding the most magical night of the year, which is also the one, where falling asleep becomes the most challenging, making the wait feel longer.
On January 5th, all cities and towns welcome Their Majesties, the Three Kings of the East, who arrive loaded with gifts for everyone and with a few sacks of coal to admonish those who haven't been as good as expected.
The evening of January 5th is chaotic for Their Majesties and the pages accompanying them, and yet, magic ensures they are everywhere to be seen and greeted, as tradition dictates.
The Three Kings' Parades in Mallorca
Wherever you are, you can experience a Three Kings' Parade since, after all, it is well known that they are Magicians, and if they can fill every house with gifts in a single night, why not participate in numerous parades?
In Palma, the Three Kings are scheduled to arrive at 6:00 PM at Moll Vell, on the boat Rafael Verdera. After greeting the authorities, as protocol dictates, they will address the children to deliver a brief speech, acknowledging their goodness and the number of letters they have received.
Later, the procession will go through the most important streets of Ciutat, such as Antoni Maura Avenue, Paseo del Borne, King Carlos I Square, or Cort Square, where they will be handed the keys to the city.
In Calvià, it is expected that the Kings will depart from the sports center, as they do every year, to travel through Capdellá Avenue, Mayor Street, Costeta de sa Música Street, and the church square. Then, they will follow the same route to reach Sa Societat building.
Here, too, they will be welcomed by the local authorities and distribute candies among the little ones, forecasting a night full of gifts.
In Andratx, the Magi of the East will have a lot of work, as there are several mandatory stops - by royal protocol - that they must make and that they gladly repeat every year.
At 6:30 PM, they will arrive at the port of Andratx, where hundreds of families will be waiting to give them the welcome they deserve. After exchanging a few words with the attendees, they will head to S’Arracó, where at the same time - as if by magic - they also begin a solemn procession through the streets.
At 7:00 PM, they are expected in Andratx, where children and adults will cheer their passage and, perhaps, receive some candy or sweets from them. The parade will go through the main streets accompanied by music, dance, and many pages assisting the kings, and will end in the town hall area.
Where will you be watching the Kings from? Remember that on the night of January 5th, you must go to bed very early and keep your eyes tightly closed, even if you hear strange noises around the house.
To make this night of intense work more bearable for them, it is advisable to leave some fresh water and carrots or apples for the camels - the ideal is a couple of hay bales, but not everyone has them nowadays - and a glass of anise, champagne, sweet herbs, milk, or water for Their Majesties.
It is well known that the elderly Kings love sweets, so do not hesitate to set out three plates with ensaimadas, polvorones, nougat, or chocolate.
