The bests excursions in Mallorca for Summer 2024
Are you planning which towns in Mallorca you want to explore during your summer vacation in 2024? Dreamy beaches, majestic mountains, natural reserves... We present to you the best excursions for this summer on the island.
Excursions in Northern Mallorca
If you'll be in northern Mallorca, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Formentor peninsula.
After a drive through its winding roads, you'll find the best panoramic views. The Formentor Lighthouse is the northernmost point of the island, and it's worth visiting for its sea-view lookout, one of the most beautiful in Mallorca.
If you enjoy hiking, we recommend taking the trail to Talaia d’Albercutx, which offers a unique perspective of the Pollença Bay.
For nature and animal lovers, the s'Albufera Natural Park near Alcudia is a must-visit. It’s a paradise for birdwatching and walking along the paths and trails, thanks to wooden walkways that let you explore the wetlands without endangering the area's rich biodiversity.
Routes through the Tramuntana Mountains
The Tramuntana Mountains were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and they feature some of the most beautiful hiking routes in Mallorca.
One of the routes we recommend starts in Sóller and leads to the port of Deià, passing through ancient olive groves and hidden coves. But if you prefer more thrilling adventures, you must go to Puig Major, the highest peak on the island, offering a real challenge and a great adventure.
If you want to head further west, we always recommend stopping in Valldemossa, one of the most picturesque villages in the Tramuntana.
Valldemossa is famous for hosting Chopin and George Sand in its Royal Charterhouse, its cobblestone streets, and it’s delicious potato coca, which can be enjoyed in both summer and winter, whether with ice cream or granita, or with coffee or hot chocolate
Activities in or near the Sea
The Drach Caves, Porto Cristo, Campanet… represent an amazing spectacle in the island’s underground. Underground paths, rooms full of stalactites and stalagmites, millennia-old geological formations… they evoke a different time when Mallorca’s surface didn't hint at such an astonishing and almost magical subterranean world, which leaves visitors in awe and offers a unique experience.
Additionally, the coastline of Mallorca offers many activities such as kayaking or canoeing, snorkeling, paddle surfing… Cala Figuera and Cala Mondragó, which is also a Natural Park, are perfect settings for these water activities.
Let’s not forget the beaches, a true tourist magnet of Mallorca. From the vast sands of Es Trenc to the crystalline coves of Cala Mondragó or Cala Varques, the Mallorcan coast offers options for all tastes. For those seeking tranquility, the northern coves like Cala Tuent or Sa Calobra, though harder to access, reward with their natural beauty and turquoise waters.
We conclude this journey through Mallorca with a visit to Palma, the capital, which is must-see. A tour of its old town, crowned by the imposing Cathedral of Santa Maria, known as La Seu, transports visitors through centuries of history.
The Bellver Castle, the only circular castle in Spain, offers a panoramic view of Palma Bay that no one wants to miss.
