Hiking trails in Majorca for children
When the cold sets in, it becomes increasingly difficult to find adequate leisure activities with children. But we will not tire of repeating that Majorca is not only beach, sun and sea.
The possibilities for family activities in autumn and winter are endless. These seasons are ideal for activities that are too warm in summer.
We at La Pérgola would like to suggest you some walking routes that you can do wonderfully with children. They are easy routes, but still surrounded by an enchanting beauty.
- 1.Ses Fonts Ufanes
Our first proposal has to do with water. However, this is not a bathing trip.
Ses Fonts Ufanes de Campanet has been a nature reserve since 2001 and is one of the most popular excursions for the whole family.
This natural water source becomes a unique natural spectacle during heavy rainfalls, which only happens three times in dry years. The water then gushes out of the ground at all points simultaneously and transforms the landscape into a large water fountain.
The drive to Campanet takes only 20 minutes and leads over a well passable road. This unique natural spectacle is a whim of nature. When it rains, a water vein is nourished, which rises to the surface in Campanet. Since the Boder has a very low storage capacity, the bubbling wells are created.
- 2.Bellver Castle
This is a perfect place for a trip with kids. The beautiful and extensive forest at Bellver Castle is Palma's natural lung.
Next to the castle, a Gothic marvel from 1300, the surrounding forest is ideal for short excursions, sports and a family picnic.
The proximity to the city centre, the number of trees, the surroundings and the view from above make it an ideal plan if we don't want to leave Palma.
- 3.S'Albufera National Park
From Bellver Castle to another of Mallorca's most emblematic towns: S'Albufera, a natural park since 1988 and the largest wetland in the Balearic Islands.
Located in the immediate vicinity of Port D'Alcudia and Muro Beach, there are four different routes with different durations, so you can choose the one that suits you best. Whichever route you choose, you will discover the typical fauna and flora of the island.
Admission to the park, although free, requires a permit to be obtained from the reception centre.
We at La Pérgola recommend that you go to the wooden lookout to enjoy the unique view. We also believe that this is the best route for children to get acquainted with different animal and plant species.
- 4.Puig de Galatzó
The Serra de Tramuntana is an inexhaustible source of surprises, routes and beauty.
The Puig de Galatzó reserve is an ideal option for travelling with children. As its name implies, it is a reserve where you can take a pleasant and easy walk along a path of about 4 kilometres that leads you through woods, waterfalls and natural water sources.
At the end of the tour you will also reach a recreation area where you will find all kinds of services.
These are wonderful plans to get away from the routine and get to know Mallorca's most hidden corners.
