Discovering Orient
Like it's a little hidden treasure, a unique place. Surrounded by valleys and history, heritage and roots, Orient is a (very small) village in the heart of the Tramuntana.
There time seems to follow other patterns. The cadence is relaxed and the rhythm seems to be in tune with the seasons. Without hurry, with pauses and beauty.
The more than thirty inhabitants and above all the respect for aesthetics, past and heritage make it a fairytale, idyllic and special city.
To walk through its streets is to walk through the Mallorca of 600 years ago. Houses from the 14th and 15th centuries, the stone and soul of a Majorca that sometimes seems remote.
Classified as an Asset of Cultural Interest, it is protected by its historical value. A visit to Orient will be worthwhile just for strolling through its corners, smelling its authenticity and tasting the slow pace, but the 18th century church of Sant Jordi is a place of pilgrimage and appears in the work of Archduke Luis Salvador.
Its location in the wildest interior of the Tramuntana makes it an ideal starting point for different hiking routes and a perfect stop to replenish strength for cyclists.
Bunyola, Sóller, Alaró and other places where you can get lost and enjoy nature. And, during the months of intense rain, the pleasure of discovering wonderful waterfalls that make that unknown face of Mallorca a delicious rarity. For example, Es Salt des Freu, a rock fall located in an incredible forest.
From La Pérgola we advise you to devote an entire day to Orient, strolling leisurely through its streets, tasting its restaurants -few but well avenues- and enjoying seeing how a village is capable of stopping time.
